First Time Traveler Tips brought to you by: Monte Carlo!

*Will be reviewing this film soon!*

GO ON AN ADVENTURE OF A LIFETIME
WITH TEEN SENSATIONS SELENA GOMEZ, LEIGHTON MEESTER AND KATIE CASSIDY

Sashays onto Blu-ray and DVD October 18th
First Time Traveller Tips
Debuting on Blu-ray & DVD on Oct. 18
If like Grace, Meg and Emma you’re off on your very first trip abroad, you’re probably filled with a mixture of excitement and fear.  A little bit of caution is probably in order, but you don’t need to be fearful as there are a number of things you can do to make your trip go as smoothly as possible. With the Selena Gomez flick Monte Carlo debuting for home entertainment on Oct. 18, we have compiled a checklist that will offer up an array of hints and tips so that you’re well prepared for all circumstances abroad.

Selena Gomez stars in Monte Carlo as Grace, a recent college graduate who is ready to live out her idea of a perfect vacation with BFF Emma (Katie Cassidy) to Paris. After several twists and turns, including her unhappy stepsister Meg (Leighton Meester) joining them on the trip, Grace falls into a fairytale of her very own in the French Riviera.

It’s All in the Plan
On a first trip it is common to take for granted the amount of planning that it takes to get you from your front door in one country to your hotel room in another. If you are assuming that everything will just go how it’s supposed to, you are wrong! Here are a few things to make sure you get from A to B.
·         Bring your passport and boarding pass. Don’t end your trip before it has begun with a rookie error!
·         Try to organize cabs before you go, because in some countries cab drivers will take advantage of tourists and you may end up paying more than you should. This is especially important for the final cab to the airport. If they know you need to be somewhere fast, they may try and use this to their advantage.
·         Organize your days in advance! If you leave it to you and your friends to decide at the time you will almost always end up sleeping through the sunlight and waking up to dinner.
What You Need to Bring
Enough Money
·         For a first trip abroad, this is one of the most important pieces of advice to take into account. Although the large pile of newly converted money looks like it could last you for the rest of your life, it will not. Budget for how much money you will need each day and then put the money you don’t spend into a pot to blow at the end! It is also important to plan for the worst and have sufficient funds in case of emergency.
The Right Clothes
·         Often when going abroad, people either over estimate the heat and bring nothing but tank tops and flip flops - or they underestimate it and bring jeans, boots and their favorite fur coat. The best way to avoid this is to ask someone who has already been to your chosen destination and ask them what they wore and if it was sufficient.
What You Don’t Need to Bring
Excessive Amounts of Books, DVDs and Magazines
·         When packing for vacation you may imagine yourself having loads of free time to fill, when in reality you won’t. People often bring piles of magazines, books and DVDs that waste valuable space in their bags and end up being left at the bottom of a draw for the duration of the trip.
Valuables
·         This is one of the most obvious ones, but it still deserves a place on the list. Nothing ruins a holiday like the loss of your new laptop or iPod (and they often spend a lot of time sitting in the room unused anyway!). If you have nothing worth stealing, then you have nothing to worry about losing!

Saying Goodbye

Saying goodbye to Desperate Housewives is not going to be easy. I know it sounds weird.. but I have come to love and relate to each of the characters. I actually feel as if I know them. I am so not ready for the end.

It is even funny that- I didn't ever think I would like this show. I didn't have cable, and caught the beginning of a second season episode, and didn't even realize what I was watching. I can be so cynical about shows. I usually only get into reality TV, or true crime and love contestant shows. I loved Rock of Love, Tila Tequila, Charm School, Flavor of Love. Yes, straight trash. I love Millionaire Matchmaker, and Talk Soup. What I do not like is scripted, especially not drama. But Desperate Housewives is really more of a dramedy. (Drama + Comedy)

I guess in a perfect world their families and lives wouldn't matter and they would never get old or run out of story lines... but this is not a perfect world. I have come to know and love Wisteria Lane. I don't know what I will do with my Sunday nights anymore.

I am sure I will cry at the end of the last episode. But it will be on again, in it's last season premiering this Sunday night 8/9c on ABC. I will be watching it with my best friend, drinking a bottle of Moscato out of rimmed sugar wine glasses (LOL!)

My favorite characters are Bree and Gabby. I don't know which I like more.. because I love them both so much. I am so old that I actually remember Marcia Cross being on Melrose Place. Come to think of it- and I just realized this; Melrose Place was EXTREMELY similar to Desperate Housewives anyway!

Will there be a replacement Desperate Housewives on the horizon? What will happen to the characters this season? Amid rumors of a death on the season premiere and deaths of not the top 4 but a few of the top 10 characters, it's going to be juicy- that's for sure!

What will happen to the Stars of this show? Where will they go? Any plans for future series?
What about Marc Cherry? Is this the end of the line for him? I hope not. I am sure the next thing he churns out will be just as good.

There are several articles floating around (some with interviews and sneak peeks) I have gathered the best of the best for you hardcore fans.

I don't know what my replacement show will be, but right now, closest thing I can find is Pretty Little Liars. No surprise its an ABC show. Even if it is ABC family. I am currently trying to catch up with where they are.  My best friend Bethrented the 1st season's DVD from her Netflix. Seems to be the ONLY place you can rent it from. Blockbuster (which I subscribe to their mail service - and have for many years) doesn't carry it online or in store. I gotta admit, it's pretty good. I was floored by the first episode. This is supposedly a Teeny-bopper show, and in the first episode we have lesbians, shoplifting, and sex and murder. Titillating and intruiging, yes.  But not sure it would be something I'd want an easily influenced pre-teen watching however.

ABC Family’s Pretty Little Liars will resume its second season in January 2012
3 Questions for my readers...

  1. What are your opinions about it ending?                                                        I am sad - read above
  2. Which character will you NOT miss?                                                                       I won't miss Vanessa Williams character. I never liked her anyway. She doesn't fit in, plus her old looking neck bothers me. (lol)
  3. What would you like to see happen this season?                                              I want one of the main character's husbands to leave them for another one. Or I want someone to come back from the dead. I want some of the old characters to re-appear AND I want Bree to get back with one of her many ex-lovers. :) I also want the Kids to have a bigger role in the show. What I would really love to see, is the kids come on with their OWN Desperate Housewives show (Part II, naturally) called Wisteria Lane. That would be GREAT
  4. Who will you miss the most?                                                                     Honestly, for me- it's Karen McCluskey- I love that nosy bitch!

I am so not ready to "Kiss Them Good-Bye"!

I am extremely sad about the pending disappearance of my very favorite show in the whole world. I am not sure even if I find a replacement I will ever look forward to - or love it's characters as much as I do this show.

Kylie & Kendall (+21 pics)

Kylie & Kendall...

Will they just quit? Because its getting ridiculous and making me feel old. And kinda lesbi-gay. But they are sooo young. What's crazy to me, is how much taller they both are than Kourtney and Kim. Watching them grow up on TV too. I have always watched the show, and I remember when they were super young. Gosh like 9 or 10? Possibly younger.
I want to feel bad for them for growing up in the spotlight with so much pressure - but it's hard to.  I guess because they profit so much from it. One of them looks shockingly thin in one of the pics I found today. (Below.. you'll know it when you see it.) I adore this show and the family. I can't wait to see more of these girls. I know Kim has said how proud she is of Kendall & Kylie. But I am unsure about what, exactly? The fact they are mature I hope. I assume she is talking about their beauty. But that was more a DNA gift. Nothing to be proud of them for doing. I guess for being good girls?

There was a lot of talk recently because on a recent episode this season of Keeping Up with the Kardashians; 15 year old Kendall is being put on birth control for her "acne". I suffer from acne occasionally too, but birth control is not a solution for that. I don't care what they say. People seemed to insinuate that now shes loose and having sex, Doubtful. When you grow up with that much money and TV cameras following you around.. plus a mom and dad who are still together and they seem well bred. (LOL!) Even if she were having sex, I doubt it would be with more than one guy. Maybe she's not taking it for acne. Although I did notice in the hotel scene where Kim takes her to New York to do a photo shoot, she does appear to have it. Maybe she just wants to have it in her system, in case something perchance, does happen and she does fool around with someone. Shes a teenager for christ sakes. Most all of us did it too. It's different when its your kid though. I am sure I will definitely feel different when Giana and Devonny are older. But I'll cross that bridge when I get there. At least Kendall is smart enough to think ahead. Birth Control sounds better than being a Teen Mom, especially when she has a whole life of fame and fortune handed to her on a  silver platter.

I do love this family. And I love the Jenner Sisters. I would love to meet even one of the members of this family It will never happen of course.. but one can only dream!

I hate it though, when people talk a lot of trash about them and say Kim is famous for her butt.. and they don't deserve their fame, and yada yada yada. I don't know if the show is scripted. The Hills was, so I think most of it probably is. But even still-  they work for that money. They go to photo shoots, make public appearances, have camera crews crawling through their homes and lives. The do deserve their fame. They are all breathtakingly gorgeous. Saying they don't deserve fame for being pretty, well you might as well say Kate Moss, or Gisele Bundchen or even Adriana Lima do not deserve their fame. Just cut them a little break.

Giana years ago, asleep in my rat terriers bed.... I couldn't find her.
Too funny, right?
Kendall Jenner, in my opinion is breathtakingly pretty. She is reminiscent of Gia Carangi. The late model in the 80s who Angelina Jolie passionately portrayed in the HBO film, Gia. That is where Giana's name originated from. Ironically, Giana's middle name is Kendall.
I think I chose beautiful names for my girls.. Devonny (pronounced like "devon" then "knee") and Giana (gee-ahh-nuh). Giana Kendall & Devonny Noelle (pronounced noel)

I know it's not relevant, but who cares?
It is HILARIOUS!
What do you think?
I have a ton of pics I have scrounged up online for you! I know you guys are super interested in my Kardashian posts, because I get so much traffic on them, so I gathered this article and opinions and images up for your enjoyment. Hope you did!

Kendall looks gorgeous.

Kourtney & Kim look like they ate the cake in Alice in Wonderland.

He's tall like the jolly black giant. Seriously, I like him though.

I hope this is altered, BC it's scary.

Look at her legs they are miles long. Jeez.

Very 80s.

How pretty!

Pretty Kardashian Swag.

One photo she looks like Gia in. (JMO)

<3

~ Muah! ~

I've been in that same house with Minnie Mouse. That hooch, she gets around like the Beach Boys.
Kidding, kidding!   (:

Kylie on a segway.

Not digging that shade of lipstick on her.

My Sis and I! Not quite the same. I know. LOL!

Kylie & Kendall's blog is at:
http://kendallandkylie.celebuzz.com/ There is a pic on it of little Mason, which ironically is the name of my sisters little boy. Strange. Anyway, he got big! Kourtney has been hiding him from the camera on htis past season of KuwtK (Keeping Up with the Kardashians) a lot, but can you blame her. Poor little baby gets enough cameras shoved in his face.
Khloe Kardashian guest post here on LoE  + another  article I wrote about the Kardashian clan.
Thanks again!

Khloe Kardashian -

Khloé Kardashian Odom
By Maggie Voelker

The baby Kardashian sister may be the youngest, but that certainly doesn’t mean she’ll be outshined by her two older sisters, Kim and Kourtney. This bombshell is the wifey of Los Angeles Lakers basketball player Lamar Odom and is best known for her appearances on Keeping Up with the Kardashians, Kourtney and Khloé Take Miami and Khloé & Lamar.  In addition to her television success, Khloé is a regular radio personality with her own show, Khloé After Dark, and co-owner of the clothing boutique D-A-S-H.

Khloé 101

Baby K, daughter of the late Robert Kardashian and Kris Jenner, is well known for her tall, curvy figure and sometimes raunchy sense of humor. The now-celebutante had humble beginnings and a sometimes difficult childhood. Reeling from her parent’s divorce and then her father’s untimely death, Khloé suffered from an eating disorder and subsequent weight gain as a young woman. With the help of her sisters, Khloé managed to regain her health and explore her fashion interests. In 2006, the sisters founded D-A-S-H, a clothing and accessories boutique, in Calabasas, CA. Today, D-A-S-H has stores in Miami and SoHo too.

That same year, Keeping Up with the Kardashians premiered and was an instant success. The show primarily focused on Kim’s life at that time, but soon the entire family shared the spotlight. Khole’s fame grew and she garnered the camera’s attention with her wit and wild antics, sometimes to her dismay as a drinking and driving incident was blown up by the media in 2007.

In 2009, Khloé met Lamar Odom at a party she threw for LA Lakers player, Ron Artest. Lamar and Khloé hit it off and quickly tied the wedding in September of that year—exactly one month after their meeting. The couple is still together today, despite the influx of camera crews in their home filming the hit reality show, Khloé and Lamar.

Why Fans Love Khlo (And You Should Too)

Through constantly in the limelight, Khloé has maintained an air of normalcy about her. Many fans find Khloé to be the most relatable K-dash sister and appreciate her refusal to adapt to Hollywood standards for body type. Khloé isn’t stick thin…and thank goodness, neither is the majority of America. She admits that dealing with the comparisons between herself and her sisters is difficult. They’re 5’ and 5’2” while Khloé towers over them at 5’10”. You better believe she’s not going to weigh 100 pounds! It’s hard to imagine the pressure Khloé must feel to look “similar” to her sisters and to conform to the celebrity body. Kudos to her for remaining healthy and absolutely gorgeous!

Khloé’s eclectic fashion sense is another reason to love this fabulous Kardashian sister. In keeping with her daring personality, Khloé isn’t afraid to take risks in her style. She’s worn some crazy pieces and somehow makes them work! More power to this fashionista!

While the Kardashian sisters are all quirky and entertaining, Khloé takes the cake with her wild sense of humor. She is obviously intelligent as evidenced in her brutally sarcastic humor. You can always count on Khloé for the comment that eases a tense moment or that livens up a stuffy situation. Fans love this aspect of her personality. It makes her seem down to earth—like one of us—definitely someone we’d want to hang out with for a day!
Behind that sometimes stinging sense of humor is a good heart. Khloé is a true family girl and always puts the Kardashian, Jenner, and Odom families first. She’s super supportive of her hubby and can always be found in the Lakers bleachers cheering on Lamar. Khloé doesn’t let her busy schedule interfere with family dinners or trips, and can be counted on by her friends and family for advice and support. Extremely loyal, she’s definitely someone you’d want in your corner!

So before you hate on this celebutante, remember that Khloé is actually not all that different than us. She has many of the same struggles—body image, competition with family and a crazy schedule—and holds many of the same things dear to her heart—family, friends, and doing what she’s passionate about. Khloé, you’ve got a fan in this writer!

Amy Winehouse Unexpectedly and Sadly Joins the 27 Club.

Lady Gaga said it best: “Amy changed pop music forever, I remember knowing there was hope, and feeling not alone because of her.  She lived jazz, she lived the blues.”  With her soulful voice, peculiar demeanor and unruly habits, Amy Winehouse wowed audiences despite sometimes tripping on stage, throwing her shoes at people and struggling to stand up straight.  Her fans still loved her.  Now, with her music still echoing in their ears, they’re left with an all-too-obvious reminder that life is short.
At 3:54 pm on Saturday, July 23, 2011, 27-year-old jazz-influenced soul singer Winehouse was reported dead.  She was found in her London home, and a police source confirms that there were no sign of drugs near her body.  A toxicology report may take weeks to complete, and until then, the cause of her death is unclear.  Even so, Winehouse battled with a long-term – and well-known – drug addiction.  Suspicions are in the air as to whether her addiction to crack cocaine, heroin, alcohol, ecstasy, ketamine and cigarettes may have played a part in her untimely death.  Although she checked into rehabilitation centers at various times throughout her career, she believed that her illness was manic depression rather than alcohol or drug dependency.
As she was off-and-on with checking into rehab, she was similarly off-and-on with her marriage to Blake Fielder-Civil.  With their shared drug abuse and Winehouse’s penchant for adultery and violent, drunken moments, the marriage was severely damaged.  In January 2009, Fielder-Civil divorced Winehouse after she admitted to adultery in court papers.
Her failed marriage may have caused Winehouse to sink deeper into depression.  However, it seems like she tried to reinvigorate her love life through her most recent relationship with Reg Traviss, a film director.  Their love was still going strong as recent as April, but took a downward spiral last month when Traviss ended their relationship. Heartbroken and inconsolable, Winehouse briefly checked into Priory Rehab Clinic in London and then proceeded to cancel her European tour.  Traviss wanted to play a positive role in her life, but realized that he couldn’t make her stand strong against her drunken demons, reported Celebs.
According to Drug Addiction Treatment, Traviss did the right thing:
“… your reasons for leaving must be based on the best interests of all concerned. The decision should come after all other options have been thoroughly explored, and/or you’ve come to the realization that by staying, you’re doing more harm than good – harm to you, your spouse and your family.”
Revealing how important love was to Winehouse, many of her songs were dedicated to her relationships – both the good and bad parts of romance.  For instance, in her ballad “Love is a Losing Game,” she sang about how she lost to love and laments the trouble that it has caused:
“Love is a losing game
One I wish I never played
Oh what a mess we made”
In addition to using her music as an outlet for her pain, Winehouse may have used her drug addiction to wipe away her sorrows and regrets. But can addiction really cure a broken heart?  Perhaps she should’ve looked to love as the ultimate reason to overcome her addiction.  Just as both of these forces made their mark in WInehouse’s life, this uniquely talented artist unequivocally impacted the lives of her fans.  There will surely be a gaping hole in the world of music.
Sadly, with her early and unexpected death, Winehouse joins the 27 Club, an ironic club of deceased, influential rock artists who died at age 27, generally with some sort of controversy surrounding their death.  Winehouse was aware of this group, also known as the Forever 27 Club or Club 27, and sometimes referenced its existence in interviews.  Now, her name will be remembered along side legends like Jimi Hendrix, Janis Joplin and Kurt Cobain.  May their souls rest in peace.
In light of Winehouse’s death, what celebrity passing has most affected you and why? Share your thoughts below.
