Rock & Learn - Earth Science review & giveaway ends 6/30 noon ***CLOSED!!!***

***CLOSED!!!****

What is Rock N Learn?
Only the coolest educational series for kids since Sesame Street! I know television gets a lot of flack. It is not credited nearly enough. They say to limit children's TV times. They may be on to something, kids do need more exercise. But I also know there are things Giana has learned from watching TV. The TV definitely has more patience than me, for starters. I actually have a fond memory of Giana being barely 2, coming into my room, saying "Momma! The earth is in the solar system!!!" I didn't tell that to her, so it had to have came from the TV. But I have yet to see a child s programming that isn't educational in some way, shape or form. These are the icing on the cake! These should be standard in classrooms across America, utilized as learning tools. They are great. I can see why my daughter loved it, and I think other kids would too. In fact, I hope I get the opportunity to review more of the DVDs!

For our Rock N Learn experience, I had to pick what is best for Giana. Which, can be a challenge to challenge her.. to say the least. Since she is so far ahead of her grade level already on Math & Reading & Writing, I figured Science would be good to introduce. There are a lot of science videos to choose from! Almost all the science videos are geared toward kids older than her, which would be fine, but I thought even some of it might be over her head. I could be wrong, but better safe than sorry. I wasn't sure what to expect. But looking at each video on their site, that makse it easier to chose. Each video has a 3-5 minute snippet of a segment of that lesson. I chose Earth Science. I noticed from the segment and the description it covers a wide area of different topics, I though she might grasp it better than the others. Keep in mind- it is for 3rd grade to 5th grade, but I think a lot of kids would still get it. Plus, it would be one to have later as well. Not one they might grow out of quickly or get bored with. That can't really happen to me, because they can always be used for Devonny. :)

The Earth Science DVD was 60 minutes. Which is the perfect time for learning. Anything less = not good, anything longer you lose the risk of losing their attention. Giana and I watched it together. Did you know it is proven that kids who watch learning on Television absorb it better when an adult/parent watches it with them? Its true! I learned some things even I did not know, or maybe just forgot. Thats how it is when you get older. You forget some of the stuff you learned when you were younger.

Terra (the Globe) has a hilarious Brooklyn accent. It cracks me up! Marko the pencil guides Kevin to get ready for his big test! Marko the pencil even has his very own website, http://www.markothepencil.com/, where you can access practice tests for all subjects for FREE, without registration, via printable *.PDF files.

"All Rock ‘N Learn science DVDs feature Marko’s Super Science Station where learning is a blast (sometimes literally)! Clear explanations and fun examples cover science topics such as parts of an atom, properties of minerals, and the human digestive system. Whether students need to prepare for a test or simply love learning about science, these DVDs hit the mark. Specifically developed for the fifth grade, younger students–often as young as preschool–and older students (even parents and grandparents) enjoy the entertaining characters."

But Rock N Learn doesn't just focus on science.. Oh no! They focus on everything. If the kiddos need to learn it, you can bet its on thier site, with a DVD ready to help your children better understand it.
Whether they help them understand it with funny rap songs, or colorful illustrations, its sure to be driven home.
