Money Savvy Pig giveaway! 9/21 ***CLOSED!!!***

***CLOSED!!!***

Win your own Msgen Money Savvy Piggy Bank in your choice of color!
Even if you don't win this giveaway, you'll appreciate knowing that you can buy one for only 16.99! Not mentioned/available for this giveaway is the Platinum piggy bank, which is usually 19.99 and is clear. Its actually the cutest! But- right now, it is the same price as the other two.

Money Savvy Pig is available in bluepinkgreenred or purple!
Ours is purple.
Why I like this.

I think this is great. First of all- a traditional Piggy bank is not for every child. Giana is only 6, and she is like a bull in a china shop! Most kids are though. She can break anything! This is plastic- but thick sturdy plastic. I could probably throw it out of a moving car and it probably wouldn't break. Not that I would try that.

Anyway, it's clear, so the child can see their money inside, which gives them more of a sense of accomplishment on their saving. I like that it is available in all those different colors. A lot of Piggy Banks are more for decoration. They certainly do not have different compartments. Each compartment opens up on the pigs "foot" and it has a twist off plastic lid that locks into place and slides out. It was cool, because I don't think it will come out easily own its on. But also, not too easily where she would lose it. The pigs different sections are separated at his belly, shoulders & rump.

I helped her split her money into different piles: quarters, dimes, nickles, etc. Then, we put even amounts into each compartment. I told her, it's her money though. She can use it on what she wants- so long as she can afford it, and is responsible with whatever she buys.

The only thing that baffles me is the "Invest" section. For me, personally, it seems a little out of a six year olds grasp. Not only did I have a hard time explaining what it means to her, but she also didn't really "get' it. But the save, spend, and donate. Now that's pretty cool.

What Giana liked best? The stickers. The bank comes with a sheet of little stickers that have little plastic circles to set them into. The circles are above the words.  It has pictures on the stickers of things you might spend or donate or save for.

She is always wanting to put her change into the little boxes at gas stations and grocery stores. Once, at Wal-Mart, there was a thing you put your money in to donate and watch it sling around in circles as it goes down. I think it was a St.Jude one, actually. But she put about three dollars (in change) in it. She said it was for the sick kids. She even stuck her one dollar bills in it.  She actually made me feel guilty. It was all the money she had and it was so self-less. This was very recently too. I was very proud of her. So she is not too young to understand money. She is a very bright child. This will only help contribute to her learning and understanding money.

Now it's time to start this allowance and really teach her how to use this bank.

Photo Books make the perfect gift. Whether for a birthday, an anniversary, or a wedding, photo books help re-create those moments through a variety of photo layouts, unique backgrounds, text boxes, playful embellishments, and cover options.

Shutterfly is a longtime photo and paper goods supplier. Anything you can out a picture on, they will print it on it for you! From address labels, Halloween goods etc. I have used Shutterfly for years. Even back in the day when everyone else was scared to make purchases online. Shutterfly has fast became the new "Wal-Mart" (so to speak) of online picture printing.

It's a good idea to register for an account, if you don't already have one, because they periodically send out AWESOME deals and freebies. Sometimes all you pay is shipping. Man, you can't beat that- huh? So here in today's day and age when photos are all digital... Shutterfly is your wingman for making sure they are not lost forever.  Digitally stored and digitally shared (as are all of our books and media.) This is bad, to me. A digital photo is nice, but it's much better to me- to have an actual photo album. If your computer were to crash.. they would be lost. Especially if your like me, and you don't necessarily have time to back them up. Also, any digital prints you upload to thier servers are forever there. This makes it easy for re-prints, or for using these pictures for other Shutterfly projects!
Plus--
These photo books are great. They are so customizable, and can be designed however you like. Very user friendly interface too!
So what are you waiting for? Use the links above to get your own free photo book!

I received the details from Shutterfly. ( + a free photo book for posting this!)

The newest must have watch for the all so populat geeks

The newest must have watch for the all so populat geeks, comes from Tokyoflash, a Japanese brand.
The watches name is Infectious, probable because of the bacteria lookalike pattern. The timepiece features a unique pulsating three color LED display - once again with the characteristic hard-to-tell-the-time look. So, this is an accessory for all of you who have plenty time...on your hand. But is can also be a plus, for those moments you just feel like being a big - outrageous show off.

Featuring a creatively designed full face mirrored lens and an innovative way to view time, no one is immune to Infection. Finished with a matching leather band and stainless steel clasp. Manufactured in a smart new case, Infection is ergonomically designed to neatly fit the contours of your wrist, the tapered edges providing a smooth transition between the case and lens. So, just in case you didn't get how do you read the time on the Infection (this sound stupid, I know...just bear with me), here is a simple sketch that will give you all the information you need.

It has twenty seven multi-colored LEDs pulsate and move like cells across the curved face to present the time from beneath the attractive mirrored mineral crystal lens. Twelve red LEDs indicate hours, eleven yellow LEDs represent the progression of time in groups of five minutes and four green LEDs show single minutes. A single touch of the upper button animates the LEDs, a single touch of the lower button shows the time immediately.

Infection is about $135 USD, which is pretty expensive, considering you usually get it for free. OK, I just have to say it: BAD name idea!!! But I love Tokyoflash, with all it's geeky stuff!

USB Portable Chess

This unique USB Portable Roll Up Chess Game allows you to track your moves on the board. You can play against a friend or the computer and even use it as a portable game board. The included software allows you to record, save and replay your games. Simply tap the board with your chess piece to signify a move and the software will keep track.

10 Effective Diet Tips

"This is totally relevant to this blog because I have an upcoming review on The Zone Diet (soon) ! " Casey Colette

10 Effective Diet Tips
1- Stay full
Being hungry is bad for you. It makes your metabolism slow down and it makes you crave high calorie foods. Try not to over eat, but don’t starve yourself.
2- Avoid sugar
Too much fat certainly a bad thing, but it is sugar that you need to watch out for. When you consume sugar that you don’t immediately use, it gets stored as fat. Avoid foods with a lot of sugar in them.
3- Protein
Fat is already fat, carbohydrates are broken down into sugar and can be stored as fat, proteins on the other hand cannot be turned into fat. Try to eat foods with a high proportion of protein and low amounts of sugar.
4- Do fun exercise
To get in shape you will need to be active and do some exercise – thing is though, most people find it hard to keep it up. Make sure you find some form of exercise that you actually enjoy and your odds will greatly improve.
5- High intensity
High intensity exercise has been shown to be more effective than low intensity. Try to do exercises that get your heart rate up and tire your muscles. This will encourage maximum long term weight loss.
6- Food diary
Keep a log of everything you eat each day. This will allow you to track your progress and to asses where you have ‘cheated’ and where you have done well.
7- Monitor body fat
Weight loss is a flimsy way to monitor your progress. If you are doing regular exercise you will also gain muscle mass, which means that you may not lose any weight. Get a good quality fat monitor and track how much fat you actually lose.
8- Cheat once a week
Limiting what you eat can slow your metabolism down, it can also be really hard to keep the will power going. So once a week, let loose and treat yourself – this can boost your metabolism and it will also help keep you motivated.
9- Eat often
Eating small amounts often helps to maintain a steady blood sugar level, this will keep your metabolism high and prevent excess sugar from being stored as fat.
10- One habit at a time
This is a really great tip to get you started; research has shown that it takes on average 7 times of doing something before it becomes habit. Try to change one behaviour at a time – if you radically change your diet and start exercising at the same time, you are more likely to fail to make it habit.

Family Game Night goes green

Hasbro is kicking off the month of September with some exciting news! To help you and your family prepare for National Family Game Night on Wednesday, September 28, we’re launching the first-ever GREAT GAMES TRADE-IN! And to make room for brand spankin’ new games, we’ve teamed up with Recyclebank to help families across the country responsibly dispose of their old, worn-out!
GREAT GAMES TRADE-IN
Is your game of Sorry! looking, well, a little sorry? Or maybe the Cavity Sam in your game of Operation looks like he needs to take a trip to the ER. Whether you’re missing some money in your Monopoly game or letter tiles from the Scrabble game, it may be time to replace that worn and well-loved game with a brand new one. Luckily for you and your family, the Great Games Trade-In is here to make recycling and upgrading games as easy as can be! Throughout the month of September, visit FamilyGameNight.com to print up to $83 in coupons, as well as prepaid shipping labels to easily recycle your old games. You’ll learn how to recycle your old, worn-out games with Recyclebank to make plenty of room in your freshly cleaned game closet for brand spankin’ new games! The 22 Great Games Trade-In coupon offers can be redeemed at mass merchandise retailers nationwide through October 9. And with all of these savings, you’ll even have extra spending money for treats and decorations for your big National Family Game Night celebration!
NATIONAL FAMILY GAME NIGHT
Want to put those brand new games from the Great Games Trade-In to use? National Family Game Night is the perfect occasion! On September 28, we invite you to join families across the nation to unplug and unwind as you spend quality time together playing a new game. Between the pressures and demands of work, school and activities, it can be hard to find time to reconnect as a family. Hasbro wants to help everyone in America create this special and important time, and is supplying great savings on new games to ensure this year’s National Family Game Night is a success in every home!
GAME CLOSET ORGANIZATION TIPS
All you really need for a successful Family Game Night are good friends and family and your favorite games! But if getting to your games or finding the one everyone is dying to play is derailing the fun in your house, it might be time for a game closet makeover. Alison Deyette, a lifestyle expert and author of the blog “Ali on the Go,” shares a few tips to ensure you’re prepared for Family Game Night fun time and time again.
1.     Store Games in an Easily Accessible Location: Keep all your games in one place, such as a closet or storage ottoman. If you don’t have the closet space for a designated area for family games, consider storing your games near the TV in an ottoman with a lift-off top, or in a large trunk or storage bin. That way, it’s easy to get to a game when the family is looking for something to do together, or when your favorite show is over.
2.     Assign Shelves in the Game Closet: Designate each shelf in the family game closet for a particular game category. With separate shelves for word games, party games and active games without a box, everyone knows where each game goes and clean up is quick and easy! Consider keeping games for the little ones on lower shelves so they can grab them on their own for spontaneous play at any time.
3.     Store Games Side by Side: To ensure games are easy to see and grab from the shelf, store board game boxes side by side vertically, similarly to books on a bookshelf. This way, every game is easily accessible and you don’t have to worry about trying to pry one game from the middle or bottom of a stack.
4.     Find a Place for Small Game Pieces: Want to ensure you never lose those Scrabble tiles or Monopoly houses again? Use plastic tote boxes to store smaller playing items like these, as well as dice, timers and pawns. You can also use a fishing tackle box to keep all the tiny pieces separated and safe between Family Game Nights.
5.     Create a Binder to Store Game Directions: Place the directions from each game in a clear sheet protector. Alphabetize the sheets by the name of the game so directions are easy to find when you need a reminder about who goes first in The Game of Life or how much money each player starts with in Monopoly.
6.     Find Time in Your Busy Schedule for Family Game Night: Plan ahead to make sure you’re completely organized before everyone sits down at the table for Family Game Night. Make all of the treats the day before and place everything in personalized goodie bags to ensure each guest is accounted for. Also, determine which games you’re going to play ahead of time and set everything out the night before to increase everyone’s excitement for the big night!
RECYCLEBANK
Cleaning out your game closet is sure to unearth some games that are ready to be replaced, such as the Candy Land game that Mom and Dad played growing up, or the Monopoly game missing the racecar and shoe tokens. The Great Games Trade-In is a great way for families to adopt green habits by sending in old games to be recycled. By teaming up with Recyclebank, the company that rewards people for taking everyday green actions with discounts and deals from local businesses and national brands, Hasbro makes it easy for families to get a fresh, new board game for National Family Game Night while keeping their wallets full and their environmental footprints small.
Most board games include components that are easy to recycle, like cardboard and plastic. By printing a prepaid shipping label from FamilyGameNight.com during the Great Games Trade-In and pledging to recycle your old game, you can earn points with Recyclebank and eventually cash in these green points for retail rewards. Recyclebank has partnered with a materials recovery center to ensure everything received will be disposed of in a professional manner by qualified personnel and in accordance with industry standards. If it’s recyclable, Recyclebank will do right by it.
For more information on recycling and how you can make it an everyday part of your family’s life, please visitwww.Recyclebank.com.
VISIT US ON FACEBOOK
For more details about the Great Games Trade-In, information about new games and a daily dose of Facebook-style game play, “Like” us on Facebook and check in often to stay up to speed on all things Family Game Night. During the month of September, in addition to game play we will be your number one and nonstop source for information about the Great Games Trade-In, tips on preparing for National Family Game Night and game recommendations for the big night.
