I am hosting a Locomotion of Giving contest you can pay to participate and it will start December 1st and end on Christmas Eve. I will start promoting it Sept 1st! There are packages you can pay to promote your social media (Twitter, Blog, Facebook!) It will be 5$ for single entry method, 9$ for two, and 12 for all three! The cash prize depends on how many people participate. The winner will be awarded with an Amazon gift card. You are welcome to enter too, of course. Basically what it is is people pay per social media boost. They are then all compiled in a list. Entrants can win big money by liking the pages... it could be a list of 10 or 500. Apparently, I'm not as advanced as I think I am in online world, however, I must admit, the timer barely gives you time to read the long question and it ticking away so quickly a visibly is a major distraction and makes me frantically pick an answer before I am sure of it.

Letting people know I'm a BzzAgent and received samples or coupons!
Bzzagent is a site that hooks up people (without blogs too! It's not a requirement) with free products for spreading the word about products, over the years (Because I am a longtime beginning of BzzAgent time member) I have gotten so many amazing products and learned about some cool ones too. In addition, I almost always get samples and coupons to (high value as well) dispense among my friends, family and acquaintances. If you are not already a BzzAgent, I HIGHLY suggest you join!

Recyclebank - Got a solution for me?

Let me take a second to tell you guys about "Recyclebank". They get the award for being the best all around program I have ever seen to help out with this non-recycling people epidemic! As you all probably know, this blog focuses a lot on doing our part to make the earth more green. As well as talks about sustainability, organics and upcycling. I'm not perfect by any means, nor do I expect you to be. But I do know that I have even tried to talk my neighbors (ahem* and my town more importantly) into it, with little success. What sucks (excuse my language, but no other word will suffice) about being here is when we lived in Groton, Connecticut I actually got introduced to Recyclebank. 

It's a neat idea.. more like coolest thing since sliced bread! It makes recycling easy for the resident. You get a blue large trash can, to place beside your regular trash can. There's no seprating required and it's even picked up on the same day as your regular trash pickup. You just put anything that they tell you can be recycled into that can. That's right! No separating glass, plastics, and bottles. Even more incentive besides having a healthy earth for our children's kids? They pay you to do it in forms of printable coupons, online coupons, and mailed coupons as well as gift cards. 

Once I remember gathering up phone books in navy housing people threw out or were placed on doorsteps of navy houses that were empty.. I put them all in my bin. Ooohhh weee! I got so many points for that. See, they weigh your can as they pick it up and points are deposited into your online account, which you then login and spend accordingly. Even better? Even though I no longer live there- I still get points for participating in their learn and earn activities. 

I have tried to call my city and talk to them about recycling. They do not even offer any curbside.. much less Recyclebank. But to no avail. They said the town hall meeting voted against it. Maybe I should go to one and present an argument. But I am not really the best debater. Maybe I should leave that to my mega intelligent friend Beth Wood. I bet she could convince a rock it was a fossil. In any case. I have lived here for two years and am highly disppointed in this community for not stepping up to the plate. If anyone has any suggestions on how to help this situation out, I am open to them.

PS! If just 25% of homes used a hybrid water heater, that would be like taking 360,000 cars off the road, as they cut your homes energy useage by 62%! WOW! Also, bet you didn't know that a hot water heater is the 2nd biggest energy monster in your home. (Only second to the HVAC!) It would also save you upwards of 320$ a year! You would also get a federal tax credit if installed by the end of the year! Something to chew on! PLUS.. G.E. is offering a 200$ mail in rebate from now until the end of Nov 2011. Jump on it! What is this site?

It's a neat site that is not only 100% free, but hooks up bloggers with potential sponsors. You can make a BLOGGER listing or an ADVERTISER listing. Companies BIG and small all post there, in fact- it's where I found both my Channing & Co giveaway AND my Peanut Butter and Co review .

So, as you can see, several "Co"s. LOL!

In any case, there are various search parameters and ways to find clients, and even Etsy and stores that are barely off the ground and need your help and promotion!

Homemade citrus cleaner - being green

Making your own cleaner is the first step you can take toward keeping harmful chemicals away from your family (and baby!) and going green and doing your part to help the environment. Small pieces make a big puzzle.

Homemade Citrus Cleaner

You will need some orange peels, any kind of oranges or citrus will work, grapefruit, lemons, limes, tangerines, clementines, so long as its citrus-y acid. You will also need a glass jar with a tight fitting lid.


You need glass jar to put the orange peels in. An old pickle jar that has been thoroughly washed (and has no residual smell) will work great. 


 It needn't be done all at once. Just whenever you eat an orange, put the peels inside the jar.   Cover the peels with vinegar. You cram your peels so less vinegar is needed but you don't have to!   Let it soak for about a month or more. It sounds really gross, but it smells great and is a very very powerful cleaner. It will gradually change color and smell strongly of citrus used in it. After a good amount of time, you will need to strain the citrus peels from the vinegar. Take the vinegar  and pour it into a spray bottle, diluting half/half with water. Now it's ready to use on anything you wish. Because it is so powerful, I recommend that you test different areas in inconspicuous places a day before you use it on said surface. For instance, I have found that this is NOT ok to put this on my GIANI GRANITE countertops. This works well to clean sinks, mirrors, windows, floors, wooden chairs, counters, toilets and bathtubs, but I have no doubt it will work. Feel happy knowing that you've got a really powerful cleaner that was free (minus vinegar) And vinegar is a natural cleaner itself!  These citrus peels are something that you'd otherwise be throwing away!

" Most people associate vinegar with smelly feet or a sharp smell that is capable of making the mouth water, but despite its shortcomings in the sensory department, vinegar is a great natural cleaning solution. Although the vinegar itself may have a fairly distinct odor, vinegar’s odor disappears when dry, so there is no need to fear the lingering smell. White vinegar actually absorbs odors rather than masks them, making it a perfect deodorizer. It’s also safe to use and won’t discolor surfaces since it has no coloring agents.

White distilled vinegar is great for cleaning every day spaces, such as counters and floors. To add scent to your vinegar, choose any herb you like and stuff it into any size jar, depending on the amount of cleaning solution you would like to make. The specific herbs don't matter, as long as you find the scent appealing. Cover the herbs withvinegar and replace the lid. This jar should remain sealed for 4 weeks. After this time, strain the vinegar. When 1/2 parts vinegarand water are mixed, it makes for perfect mop water. "

While we are talking about being Green, I do want to add nothing bothers me more than driving down my street and seeing trashcans on the curb overflowing with dixie cups and paper plates. Unfortunately- our town doesn't support  RecycleBank which is such a shame because it keeps recycling easy by not making you separate it, and also rewards you for it, PLUS provide you with a huge can, a duplicate of what you currently use for your trash, and pick it up the same day as your regular trash. And thus encourages it even further with the online rewards, gift cards, and coupons. However , even though we (the town I currently live in) doesn't particpate in RecycleBank, they also do not even offer a curbside service of ANY kind. When I called about recycling when we moved n two years ago - they said the City Council had voted against it. WHY? I have NO idea, but I do know that the town next door DOES have curbside recycling, (But still, not Recyclebank.) Anyway, just wanted to share that I try to do my part, and contact the city, and also point out that we do have a community recycling facility but you have to drop your own stuff off there. Which is so much of a hassle to our family, I am wondering how many families actually do it. :(

Some people must think I am stupid.. or they are very ignorant on how to enter giveaways and use Rafflecopter. I think its the easiest thing ever.
There is an extra info box for a reason. For validation.
You cant just click follow and I did it.
No, you have to click follow I did it, and then.. say your twitter name in the extra info box.
Its not going to walk -that you claim to have my button for 5 extra entries, when in fact you didn't and the extra info box is empty. The extra info box is for you to prove &  validate. If you grabbed the button.. then why wouldn't you jusst type in the name/url of your blog where its at? Deleted.
If you want to redo them. be my guest.. but they will be checked. If you like me on Facebook, you are 'sposed to leave your facebook name.

The thing is .. this guy- said he did EVERYTHING - including emailing 10 of his friends and CC'ing me in the email.. which I never got "said email". Since I do not know which entries were valid since so many were NOT.. I chose to delete all of his. Please don't think that will skate with me. I'm not stupid I do check. Mess up like that again and I'll see to it that even if your entry is picked.. i will choose again until I get another winner. That's your one shot bud. I REALLY didn't appreciate that. If I go to it, and you are following all these bogs, but mine when I scroll down the alphabetized list- is not there.. so I hit CTRL F and type loco and it says zero.. then you are not publicly following me GFC and I have  to pick another winner. This happens a lot. More often than not the winners do not respond within the 48 hours and I have to choose someone else. And sometimes the new winner wont reply either.. it can be very frustrating dealing with these kinds of things in my already stressed life. I am a navy wife whose husband is gone all the time, I don't have any family here and only a handful of friend, plus all the bills, 2 kids, 2 dogs, 3 hermit crabs.. and I have my hands full.. its not that I am not passionate about blogging.
